Dark Souls is arguably the most iconic FromSoftware franchise of all time, with an extremely active community of players who remain dedicated to the trilogy to this day. While it seems pretty clear that Hidetaka Miyazaki isn't all that interested in reviving the franchise anytime soon and an official Dark Souls sequel seems highly unlikely, most fans would love to see a proper Dark Souls 1 modern-gen remake.
There's been no official word on whether FromSoft has any plans to reboot or remake any Dark Souls content, though players are wondering if the studio will ever return to the Dark Souls formula of gameplay. While Elden Ring is hugely popular for its sprawling open world, many Soulsborne fans are eager to see a new project that incorporates the dense level design from the Dark Souls series.
