A new gameplay trailer for Game Freak’s upcoming action RPG, Beast of Reincarnation, has been released. While it’s a bite-sized one minute of footage, it manages to pack in quite a bit, giving us a much better look at how the game actually plays.
A few things stand out immediately. Watching Emma parry attacks in succession is striking, and it’s hard not to draw comparisons to FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. That tight, rhythm-based defensive play looks like it could be a core part of how combat feels, and if the execution is anywhere close to what Sekiro achieved, that’s a very encouraging sign.
Also on display is the tandem dynamic between Emma and her companion Koo. Seeing that window of decision-making in battle; whether to press the attack, set up a defensive play, or provide support for Koo, looks like it could add a meaningful layer of strategy to the combat. It’s the kind of...
