Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick Says "Woe Is Me" AI Narrative Is Overstated | TechRaptor

Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of (among other IPs) Grand Theft Auto owner Take-Two, has given more of his thoughts on generative AI, and while he acknowledges the tech has potential risks, he says it will likely be "a great thing for humanity".

Speaking at an economic forum last week (thanks, GameSpot), Zelnick said he thinks people "spend too much time" discussing what he refers to as "the 'woe is me' risk related to AI", and that those who are worried about AI's potential impact on the world "might as well embrace it" since it's "going to come along anyhow".

Zelnick said he believes that AI will "undoubtedly be a good thing" for his company, and that it won't be replacing artists, but will instead allow them to do "higher-quality work", calling the viewpoint that AI leads to layoffs "the mistake of AI" (despite evidence to the contrary).

Zelnick went on to say that because AI is trained on data that already exists, humans will always be required to make new content. His view, which some might say is a little simplistic, is that "technology creates productivity, [then] productivity creates GDP, [and] GDP creates more employment".
