Released earlier this year, NC Soft’s latest MMORPG is finally coming to the west. Originally exclusive to Korea and Taiwan, AION 2 was met with a huge demand around the world as the current landscape for the MMO market has been a little dire lately. While the big two (World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV) continue to dominate the space, most of the other larger titles either fail to hit or are constrained in a niche and regional market.
Long Awaited Announcement
NC Soft has announced that AION 2 will be headed west later this year, exclusively on Steam and the Korean publisher’s proprietary launcher, PURPLE. Despite having plug-and-play controller support (if the Asian versions suggest), this will be developed exclusively for the PC platform. It doesn’t rule out potential console releases in the future, but at the current time it’s highly unlikely.
Additionally, NC Soft is fully committing to its localization, as not only will it be hosted in North America, South America, Europe and Japan, but there will be a staggering ten different languages to choose from.
