Ubisoft Cancels Highly-Anticipated Game According To New Leak

Ubisoft's upcoming slate has gone through a lot of shake-ups recently, and the most recent leak suggests yet another casualty. Earlier this year, Ubisoft officially canceled six games, including the troubled remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. These changes came amid restructuring and lay-offs, including Ubisoft's formation of a new subsidiary to handle its major franchises.

The publisher has also delayed quite a few games, and a rumor last week suggested that the next Far Cry game is still having plenty of development trouble. Now, a much cozier title, which was thought to be safe as of last week, is reported to be the latest cancellation.

According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft has now canceled Alterra, an in-development game meant to target the same audience as the Animal Crossing series. The development of Alterra was originally reported by Insider Gaming in 2024, but Ubisoft never officially announced the game, so a detailed public statement on the cancellation seems unlikely.

With voxel graphics, Minecraft-style gathering and crafting mechanics, and characters with an alleged resemblance to Funko Pops, Alterra also sounds like it could have been similar to the recent hit Pokopia and the Dragon Quest Builders...
