Xbox Game Pass Price Officially Drops

Xbox Game Pass has officially announced a price drop for the Ultimate and PC tiers, following a series of controversial price increases in recent years. The highest tiers of the subscription service offer day-one access to major releases, and the day-one addition of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 helped to justify the most recent price increase in fall 2025.

Xbox Wire revealed that, starting today, Game Pass Ultimate will decrease from $29.99 a month to $22.99, while PC will decrease from $16.49 to $13.99. In Canada, prices will change from $33.99 CAD to $25.99 and $19.99 CAD to $16.99, respectively. This change comes at the cost of day-one Call of Duty releases, which will now join the service roughly a year after release during the following holiday season.

The Xbox Game Pass price change seemingly proves the validity of recent rumors, as Windows Central's Jez Corden and others claimed that Microsoft was having internal discussions about removing Call of Duty and lowering the price. It's possible that public approval of the rumors helped accelerate the decision, although there's no way to know what the internal timeline for the change actually looked like.
