At the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 in Anaheim, Naoki Yoshida (aka Yoshi-P) took to the stage to reveal huge announcements. As per usual for the North American Fan Festival, we got the reveal of the next expansion: Evercold. This is said to be in the new Godless Saga and will be available starting January 2027. The big reveal is that instead of staying on the source, we will indeed be shard hopping, and the Scion’s first stop will be the Fourth.
The Future of Final Fantasy XIV
The fourth is considered a reflection in ruin, something we’ve come to expect from all the reflections we’ve not only visited but what we’ve been told. While we have very little knowledge about the source besides what we see in some very pretty screenshots and pieces of artwork that were shared, we do know there are giant threats called Arcane Giants that are roaming the frigid ice below.
Outside the vagueness of the story and the mystery of this “wanderer”, we also got some very important details about the future of Final Fantasy XIV as a whole. A big component of the keynote was evolution.
