It's not much of a secret that the Far Cry series has been in a bit of a rough spot for a while now, but if the supposedly rocky development of the next entry in the series wasn't enough, an update regarding the series' next project could be even more devastating. While plenty of fans can hardly wait for the upcoming Far Cry show, others have raised concerns that are getting increasingly harder to ignore.
In a Deadline interview, Far Cry TV series creator Noah Hawley spoke about the series and gaming as a storytelling medium in terms that could be considered dismissive of the source material and medium. As a result, some fans are already writing off the series as another potential failure waiting to happen.
As noted by DiscussingFilm on X, Noah Hawley himself has stated not only that the series is "not specifically adapting any of the games that they’ve put out," but that video games "make the human drama kind of irrelevant" as he believes players only care about the gameplay and have the options to simply skip the story cutscenes.
