Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver Switch Release Unites Gamers Everywhere

Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver are genuinely interesting moments in the history of the franchise, and though their period of relevancy was relatively short-lived, they are fantastic games that deserve all the praise they tend to receive now that we are some distance away from their original release.

Dropping all the way back in 2009 for the original Nintendo DS as remakes of the first run of Gold and Silver games, it featured some tangible improvements to the experience, adding overworld companions in a similar implementation to what players got with Pikachu in Pokémon Yellow.

Unfortunately, to play the game today you need to buy an original copy for your DS at home, or to keep everything above board while emulating on PC. That becomes difficult because a used copy of the game today usually costs a good deal more than a new one did at launch, largely thanks to a relatively short print run. As such, calls for a return of some sort are growing, and it's difficult to see how it wouldn't be a license to print money for Game Freak and The Pokémon Company.
