Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection has just received a new free update that adds major features, chief among them being cross-platform play. Developed by the retro game specialists at Digital Eclipse, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection compiles 23 different Mortal Kombat games across arcade, console, and handheld versions. This collection is not limited to mainline entries, as it also includes several spin-off titles. This includes some of the franchise's more infamous entries, like Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Mortal Kombat: Special Forces.

Notably, this collection includes the WaveNet version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, a limited-release arcade test version of the game presumed lost after its 1997 release. These original Mortal Kombat games have also been improved in several ways to offer a multitude of modern features, including online multiplayer and rollback netcode. This collection allows hardcore fighting fans to experience these old-school Mortal Kombat games on modern platforms alongside the franchise’s more recent entries, like 2023's Mortal Kombat 1.

This Kickstarter Mortal Kombat project has the community buzzing, but it may be a different type of game than fans of the series expect.
