The wait for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 may not be as long as any of us expected. After Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, many assumed the final chapter of the trilogy was still years and years away, but a recent update around the game's planned release date confirms what we never dared to hope: this game is so very close.

Late last year, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Director Naoki Hamaguchi recently actually confirmed that he and Tetsuya Nomura have narrowed the title of Part 3 to two options, and indicated that development is coming along smoother than a Chocobo skating across a sea of butter. Of course, video game development is hard, and things can change on a dime. Fortunately, it seems this is not the case with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3

In a recent interview with Comicbook, Hamaguchi confirmed that development is "proceeding on time and on schedule", and that we can expect an official announcement soon. I don't believe for a second that a 2026 release date is possible, but 2027 seems all but confirmed, right?
