Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced looks absolutely incredible, doesn't it? The long-awaited remake of Assassin's Creed 4 is officially setting sail July 9, 2026, which means it won't be long at all until we clamber aboard the Jackdaw and explore Caribbean with Edward Kenway. But exactly how big is this remake?

The map of the original Assassin's Creed 4 was not to be sniffed at, and actually remains one of the largest Assassin's Creed games by some distance. Black Flag's map is roughly 230–235 square kilometers, with tons of islands to explore. Some of these are tiny little outposts with little of consequence, of course, but there are towns, cities, and vast jungles, too.

So, can we expect Black Flag Resynced to feature a bigger open-world map than the original game? Well, as it turns out, we can. Naturally, you would assume that the remake will have a map more or less exactly the same as the original, but it turns out that Black Flag Resynced will include multiple areas that were previously locked behind DLC for the OG game.
