The upcoming release of GTA VI is absolutely going to be one of the biggest video game releases of all time, if not the most lucrative ever. Millions of fans are waiting in the proverbial wings to see what Rockstar has been cooking up, and it should be an experience beyond anything we have seen in the series so far.
The scale of its ambition isn't really too much in question, with what we have seen in the two trailers so far proving to be more than enough to placate any worries the community might have had. That said, it seems like Rockstar, and those who control the company, have far loftier ambitions for the game, that could see it competing with the biggest media franchises in history.
As first reported by IGN, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick shared the following insight while speaking at the iicon event for executives in video games:
"What we think about is making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth, in history – and it’s a pretty daunting challenge. If we do that, and if we’re of service to our customers, then the upside will take care of itself."
