Sony Pictures Entertainment today dropped the first teaser trailer for Zach Cregger's upcoming Resident Evil film adaptation.
The Resident Evil franchise is no stranger to the silver screen. For more than two decades, Sony Pictures Entertainment has worked on adapting Capcom's beloved survival horror franchise to film and television with mixed-to-negative results. However, with the rise in popularity and quality of game-to-film adaptations, Sony is taking another stab at adapting Resident Evil to film, this time with Zach Cregger, a rising directorial star in the horror world. Today, the studio released the first teaser and information about the film, showcasing what Cregger has planned for the franchise.
An Original Story Told Within the Universe
Resident Evil isn't a straightforward adaptation of any previously released Resident Evil story. Instead, Resident Evil tells an original story following new characters, but still slots into the mainline narrative.
