A new LEGO set based on the Sega Genesis console has been officially announced. Scheduled to launch in June 2026, the model will mark LEGO's second set based on Sega's retro gaming system.
LEGO has been producing officially licensed sets based on retro gaming hardware since 2020, when it partnered with Nintendo on a massive 2,646-piece set featuring the NES, a Super Mario Bros. cartridge, and a CRT TV whose side-mounted crank scrolled Mario through a simulated level. Since then, LEGO has released the fan-favorite Game Boy set and a replica of the Atari 2600.
Continuing this trend, LEGO has just announced another brick-built console model, this time based on the influential Sega Genesis, which was originally released in North America in 1989. The set, numbered 40926, is scheduled to go on sale on June 1, 2026, and will retail for $39.99. It will be available through LEGO's official website and via licensed distributors. No pre-order period has been announced.
