Steam has won me over as an RPG fan. Although I used to figuratively wander through Steam by clicking around aimlessly, curation tools have helped me find games in a big way. RPGs are constantly being pumped out for release on Steam, from all corners of the world, and through all sorts of monetization efforts.
RPGs from pretty much every setting are available, from classic fantasy to the far reaches of space and sci-fi. Even if a particular AAA game is on sale and languishing at full price, odds are there's something on Steam that's similar (or pays homage to) those massively scaled projects.
