Despite Low Player Count, Bungie Says Marathon Has Content Planned For Years

Marathon's Steam CCU has become a weekly fascination. I start typing into Google, and I write the word "Marathon," and sure enough, "Marathon Steam CCU" is the number one suggestion. This serves as a reminder that I always want to disable suggestions; they're an unwelcome distraction. But I digress.

The point is, it feels like more people are watching Bungie's live-service extraction shooter for signs of extinction than are actually playing the game. That's silly, but it's the internet, so here we are. Now, there are very real questions regarding the long-term viability of Marathon, which does appear to have attracted a relatively small, but fiercely committed, userbase. And Bungie themselves are potentially out there this weekend ensuring those fans that the lights aren't going out anytime soon.

First, it's always a good sign when a game's creative director is actively speaking with outlets. In this case, that outlet was GamesRadar. Julia Nardin maintains that the Marathon development team has sketched out a plan for the next few years.
