It's been six months since hardcore extraction shooter Escape From Tarkov left its seemingly eternal early access period. Compared to the turbulent development, the game has enjoyed a lull since November. As summer rolls in, however, the Russian developers decided it's time to break the ice. Literally, that is.
Today, Escape From Tarkov has gotten its first major post-launch content drop, in the form of a story chapter, a brand new map, and some much-needed quality of life features that may actually make the questing experience not feel like a chore for the first time.
Update 1.0.5.0 also marks the first content release since the departure of lead game designer Jean Tyulegenov earlier this month. It's unclear whether this update was developed while he was still active in the company, but it marks the beginning of a new era for Battlestate Games.
