If there's one thing The Sims fans hate, it's The Sims. Or, more accurately, the current state of The Sims 4. EA's monetisation practices with The Sims have never been great, but it's only gotten worse with the most recent instalment, shoving endless pricey expansions on top of one another with no sequel in sight.
For years, the playerbase has been begging for a rival to The Sims 4 to come along and give it a run for its money. The thinking is that this could give EA the kick it needs to make (not overly expensive) improvements to its own simulation offerings. Now, another contender has entered the field.
Paralives launched in early access this week and has amassed a whole lot of players. While it still lacks some features fans are after and has a few bugs, that is to be expected from an indie game that hasn't even fully launched yet, and still, the reviews are "very positive" on Steam.
