Ubisoft was quick to distance the remake from the RPG games when it unveiled Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, but that doesn't mean some of their worst habits aren't bleeding through.
We already covered Edward Kenway parrying boars who put up more of a fight than most Templars, but Ubisoft still hasn't figured out how to make the hidden blade mesh with the newer style.
In a clip shared to X by TikToker and YouTuber MisterAlpha444, taken from the recent gameplay showcase, we see Edward Kenway leaping from rooftops to kill two targets at once, and strolling through archways, casually stabbing two Spanish guards. Yet, bizarrely, the remake looks less fluid than the original.
Instead of organically weaving the animation into Kenway's movement, the camera snaps to focus on the targets in a jarring transition that's only made worse by a sharp metallic clang. Look closer, and you'll notice that Kenway doesn't even withdraw his hidden blades.
This footage is, as made clear by the disclaimer at the bottom, a "work in progress," but considering how shoddy the hidden blade has felt in the RPG era (to the point where hidden blade combat has been entirely removed in Resynced),...
