Call Of Duty: Warzone Will Be Unplayable On Last Gen From October

Call of Duty: Warzone is leaving PS4 and Xbox One behind. Next month, it will be delisted from storefronts on both of the last-gen platforms and will be made completely unplayable sometime later this year.

This coincides with the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on October 23, which is skipping last-gen consoles. Following this, Warzone will reset to Season 1, and the new seasons will only be playable on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Before that, Warzone won't even be available to download from the PS4 and Xbox One stores from June 4, with support dwindling down until Warfare 4's launch.

The timeline for this has been set out in a blog post, explaining what PS4 and Xbox One players can do until support is pulled.

While many games have long since abandoned last-gen, it's a significant blow for Call of Duty to do so in this way. Call of Duty has a massive audience of players who pretty much stick with Call of Duty, so they may not have felt compelled to upgrade to next-gen just yet, as long as they could still play Warzone...
