Ahead of the summer game mess of announcements and their own event on June 7, Xbox has announced a Fable delay to 2027 as the RPG will no longer release this year.
There is no new formal Fable release date, but in their post Xbox says that Fable is now set to release in February 2027. Development on Playground Games' revival of Fable began in the late 2010s following the cancellation of Fable Legends, before it was revealed in 2020 as part of a major reveal event that Xbox held with the Xbox Series X|S. It has been developed with help from Eidos Montreal, although that has since ended. In 2023 it was given a full trailer reveal, and announced for 2025 before being delayed to 2026.
According to Xbox the reason for the Fable delay is to give it some space from other games that are releasing this year. They cite several games that are releasing this fall, including Grand Theft Auto 6, Gears of War: E-Day, Control Resonant, and Halo: Campaign Evolved.
