The open beta for upcoming fantasy extraction ARPG Mistfall Hunter is doing some impressive numbers on Steam, despite starting at quite a random time very early in the morning before the official start of Steam Next Fest - an event highlighting upcoming games with demos that runs for a week between June 15 and June 21.
As of the time of writing, numbers for Mistfall Hunter have crossed 10,000 for Steam alone, although this test is also running concurrently on consoles, so that number is probably much higher. Despite these solid numbers, a lot of players are wondering where the hype is for the game, speculating that folks might be a bit tired of the extraction genre.
This is the first open beta for Mistfall Hunter, an extraction ARPG that we first saw a glimpse of back in October 2024. At the time, the trailer gained some traction because it appeared to be a sort of soulslike extraction game inspired by Norse mythology with RPG elements, self-described by Bellring Games as a "third-person action PvPvE extraction RPG."
The open beta features the entire class roster as well as supposedly some "improved combat systems" that might reference balance changes...
