Final Fantasy 14 Has Finally Stopped The Bleeding And Has Climbed Above 1 Million Active Characters

Final Fantasy 14 has been suffering a pretty nasty player bleed ever since the launch of Dawntrail, and that’s for a few reasons. Of course, Dawntrail was kind of mediocre, which was a big letdown after the massive high that was Endwalker, but there was always going to be a massive falloff after Endwalker’s incredible success, which was in part thanks to COVID-19.

However, things are starting to move in a positive direction. Final Fantasy 14’s hype right now is starting to rise once again, thanks to the new expansion Evercold coming next year, and the massive rework that Square Enix is undertaking with the game’s job design. It’s an interesting time, and that seems to be showing in the game’s active character count.

According to the latest census from LuckyBancho, Final Fantasy 14’s number of active characters has risen above one million for the first time since March 2025, which is surprising considering we’re knee-deep into the game’s last proper patch.
