MindsEye Now Has A Rocket League Clone With Barely Enough Players To Fill A Lobby

MindsEye is still going, well, strong might be an overexaggeration. It’s still going, though, somehow, and still getting updates. Big ones, as the latest update adds a whole new mode to the game that looks suspiciously like Rocket League.

I kid, of course, a little bit at least. It’s called Grenade Football, and while there are a lot of similarities to be drawn between it and Rocket League, there are also some stark differences. There are no cars, for starters. The players are on foot, firing the ball to each other using grenade launchers. It’s also 5v5 whereas Rocket League traditionally puts players into teams of two, three, or four.

Aside from not being able to figure out where something as wild as football with grenade launchers fits into the wider MindsEye landscape, it’s the 5v5 nature of this new mode that worries me most. If you want the rest of your Grenade Football lobby to be filled with real people, you’re going to have to rely on nine other people being playing MindsEye at the same time as you, and for all of them to be looking for fellow Grenade Football players at the same time....
