World Of Warcraft Dev Fired After Using Game Master Exclusive Spells To Help Friend

Earlier this week, a World of Warcraft game master was accused of helping their friends cheat in a high-level dungeon by using their developer exclusive spells.

The allegations were first levied by Reddit user Acrobatic_Pianist688, who claimed to have seen the Blizzard GM in question “death touching mobs." The post and others like it sparked concern among the community over how widespread the issue truly was — were there other game masters helping their friends cheat?

Blizzard has now investigated the claims and fired the GM in question, assuring players that this was an isolated incident.

“As we mentioned, we internally monitored and confirmed a recent incident in which a World of Warcraft group gained an unfair advantage by abuse of access to development-only spells on a live realm,” community manager Randy ‘Kaivax’ Jordan said on the World of Warcraft forums.

“Our tools confirmed what was also surfaced in community discussions, and we have investigated the incident carefully,” he continued. “We can confirm that this was the action of a single Blizzard employee, in violation of our Code of Conduct.
