The latest update for 007 First Light has randomly removed Denuvo DRM from the PC release, nearly two months after the game’s original launch.
Although PC gaming is quickly becoming the best way to play games nowadays (especially with PlayStation and Xbox shooting themselves in the foot constantly), there are still some bad parts to it. Without a doubt, one of the best examples of this is Denuvo DRM, which has become the scourge of triple-A releases.
For those who don’t know, Denuvo Anti-Tamper is an anti-piracy software that has been proven to impact the performance of pretty much every game that uses it. It’s incredibly hated, which is why a lot of games, 007 First Light included, try to hide its inclusion. Now, nearly two months after launch, First Light has suddenly gone ahead and ditched it.
007 First Light’s first major update dropped yesterday, adding in a bunch of new content and fixing a number of glitches. As pointed out by Notebookcheck, though, that wasn’t the most interesting change in the patch, as SteamDB suggests that Denuvo DRM has been completely removed from First Light.
