Layoffs Hit Psychonauts Studio Just Three Weeks After Xbox Split

Earlier this month, XBOX began its reset, resulting in a total of 3,200 job losses across the company.

This includes the 1,600 layoffs at the start of the month, with another 1,600 planned over the next twelve months. Beyond that, several studios XBOX acquired over the years would be leaving the XBOX family. Compulsion Games and Double Fine, for example, will become independent studios, but that has come with its own set of challenges.

"We're thankful to everyone at XBOX for seven great years together, and for working with us to reach an outcome which preserves our history and culture, and returns ownership of our games to us," the company said in a statement earlier this month.

Today, however, comes the unfortunate reality of what XBOX's reset means for the industry at large.

23 "Important" Members of Double Fine Have Been Let Go

In a new statement, Tim Schafer, founder of Double Fine Productions, confirmed that the company is letting go of 23 developers.
