The success of the recent Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie hasn’t only helped fill the coffers of Sony’s movie arm—it has pushed players towards Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man games in droves.
As pointed out by X user Okami13_, the Steam player count for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has seen a 500% boost in the days following the launch of Brand New Day. Prior to the film’s release, the game averaged around 2,000 players online in June, but is now continuously attracting over 10,000 players, with a peak of 12,000 on August 2.
Also feeling the love is Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, which has peaked even higher with around 15,000 concurrent players across Brand New Day’s release weekend. That figure brings it back into the top 100 games on Steam for the first time since October 2023, when Insomniac Games first launched Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to rapturous reviews.
PC isn’t the only platform catching Spidey fever—PlayStation players are also enjoying the buzz with both Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered appearing on the most-played charts at #13 and #25 respectively.
