Fans of The Witcher franchise have plenty of reasons to celebrate today, as CD Projekt Red just dropped a double whammy of news that has the entire community buzzing.

Taking to social media, the Polish developer officially invited everyone attending gamescom 2026 to drop by their booth for an exclusive first look at Songs of the Past, the upcoming narrative expansion for the legendary The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

However, tucked right alongside that event invitation came the long-awaited update everyone has been desperately asking about for years: an official release target for The Witcher 4.

A Next-Gen Adventure, But Digital Only (For PS)

The Polish studio confirmed that the next mainline entry, which officially kicks off a brand-new saga within the franchise with Ciri stepping up as the main protagonist, is targeting a 2028 launch window.

This means we are now only two years away from The Witcher 4, which is easily one of the most anticipated games in the entire industry once the initial wave of GTA 6 fever eventually settles down.
