Nomura: Kingdom Hearts 4 Trades Disney Worlds for More Detail

The director behind the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 4 title has shared in a new interview that the game will feature less Disney worlds than previous titles.

Speaking exclusively to Famitsu, franchise head Tetsuya Nomura said the development team made the decision to cut the number of Disney worlds in order to pack in more detail and truly realize their vision for each in-game locale. “This game features the most detailed worlds we've ever created,” Nomura told the outlet. “That's why the total number of worlds isn't very large.”

While fans might be disappointed in the limited number of Disney worlds, Nomura promised that the ones that do make the cut will include a lot more verticality and plenty of secrets to discover. Only one world has been revealed so far—the Land of the Dead from Disney’s Coco—which debuted at D23 earlier this month.

When asked about the Mexican-themed world, Nomura said that it has been “built in a very three-dimensional way” with “a lot of attractions that you can move around on.” He described the world as "incredibly vast with lots of exploration” and added that the level of detail in the city is “more amazing than ever...
