Star Wars Zero Company, a brand-new turn-based tactical game in the same vein as the XCOM series, is launching today, and immediate pre-release vibes are borderline immaculate. At the time of writing, the game has accumulated a respectable 86 average critic score on Metacritic, and our own Jaime Tugayev gave the game a sterling 9/10 score in his review.
Assuming player feedback is just as good as critics’, we could be looking at one of the best Star Wars games to date, which is quite good not just for Electronic Arts as its publisher, but for its fledgling developer, Bit Reactor.
In an interview with Video Games Chronicle, Bit Reactor founder and Star Wars Zero Company director Greg Foerstch spoke excitedly about the game’s success, as well as his team’s success in working with such a massive pre-existing IP.
“It’s surreal. When you start making a game, you aim to make a game of the year, not a strategy game of the year, but a game of the year. That’s why you do it. But to see the reviews come in and kind of validate that feels good. So, yeah, it’s an amazing feeling,” he said....
