Stellar Blade Devs Admit Switch 2 Port Will "Definitely Help For The Sequel"

Stellar Blade: Blood Rain was one of the biggest surprises from 2026's Summer Game Fest. While full of controversy surrounding its new protagonist, Evie, the follow-up to Shift Up's 2024 smash hit was a welcome announcement.

Before Blood Rain's release, a Switch 2 port of the original Stellar Blade is on the cards, and we got to sit down with DongKi Lee, CTO of Shift Up and Stellar Blade Technical Director, to discuss it. Of course, while we were there, we had to find out whether there was any chance the sequel might hit Nintendo's latest platform.

I came away with mixed feelings from my hands-on preview of Stellar Blade's Nintendo Switch 2 port. It's impressive, like Elden Ring, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Resident Evil Requiem before it, but some elements of the visuals suffer. Undeterred by these issues and the fact that PR told me I couldn't dive too deep into Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, I had to try to find out if a Switch 2 version of the sequel was in the studio's plans.
