Reputable leaker NateTheHate claims that Insomniac's Venom game hasn't been canceled and is still actively in development.
“Venom is very much still in development upon last check,” he posted to X. “As to when it’ll be announced, I don’t know.”
If you're out of the loop on the entire Venom saga, here's a quick rundown: in 2023, ransomware group Rhysida hacked Insomniac and stole 1.6 terabytes of data in an attempt to blackmail the studio. When Insomniac refused to pay, the data was leaked online.
Included among the internal files was concept art and a roadmap detailing Insomniac's upcoming projects, including a new Ratchet & Clank game, Marvel's Spider-Man 3, and the Venom spin-off.
Venom was slated for 2025 on the internal roadmap, but Insomniac never officially confirmed the project, let alone announced a release date. So, following Tony Todd's death, most assumed the game had been canceled and that Insomniac was now focusing its efforts solely on Wolverine, Spider-Man 3, Ratchet & Clank, and the leaked X-Men game.
