The disgraced ex-Old School RuneScape dev who stole in-game items from the accounts of players has finally been sentenced for his crimes after pleading guilty.
After a secret internal investigation, it was found that Andrew Lakeman’s (also known as "Mod Jed") devices and his address were the source of player account breaches on the popular MMORPG, which led to his dismissal and a police investigation.
Lakeman was arrested in July of 2019 and charged with unauthorized computer access with intent to commit other offenses, theft by employee, conceal / disguise / convert / transfer / remove criminal property and acquiring criminal property.

Andrew Lakeman, formerly Jed Sanderson, and more widely known by fans of the game as "Mod Jed," began working as a developer for the company behind Old School RuneScape, Jagex, back in November 2015. He came under suspicion three years after the fact, when virtual, yet valuable items and gold were disappearing from the accounts of players.
