Magic: The Gathering has been around a long time. 33 years, to be exact, and in that lifespan, the rules have changed a lot since the original era helmed by famed designer Richard Garfield. I started playing around when Magic came out, and still play, and have seen countless changes to the game, not just from a strategic and business perspective, but in the weeds mechanically and narratively.

Due to a new official update from Wizards of the Coast, some Magic: The Gathering rules are changing for good. For the most part, this seems like it'll make things easier for newer players.

Don't get too worried if you're a longtime player, as you won't need to relearn anything. This update mostly alters and fixes reminder text, which helps players understand the keywords that pop up in each set. Magic: The Gathering has been around for decades, so plenty of rules have been reworked or revisited many times, leading to clarifications like this with warmer language, and maybe even changing the order of operations.

For instance, "Reach" (which allows creatures to block flying units), is now getting an update to be placed earlier in card text, so it's easier to spot....
