The leaks were accurate: we're getting a new Nintendo Switch 2 model. The new Switch 2 is themed around The Legend of Zelda to mark the 40th anniversary of the series.
We even got a release date for the new model. The Zelda-themed Switch 2 and the accompanying Pro Controller will be available on October 29, 2026. This puts it ahead of the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, which we now know is launching on November 5.
This will also be the first unique Switch 2 model to be released after the console's launch last year. It comes amidst a strange console generation, which has seen continuous price increases, rather than any sign that prices might go down as the Switch 2's lifecycle continues. On the one hand, this might mean that there are still a lot of Nintendo fans who are yet to make the leap, and could be tempted by this new model - if they're willing to put the money down on it.
