A brand-new Kirby game has been announced at today's Nintendo Direct, and it's taking some cues from recent Nintendo games by going open-world in the aptly titled Kirby and the World Beyond.
Although it hasn't really been that long since we've seen Kirby himself thanks to the excellent Air Riders as well as all of the remasters and side games that the pink puffball has starred in, it has been a bit since he had a proper new game. 2022's The Forgotten Land (which also got an expansion last year) was both a landmark moment for the series and the last mainline Kirby entry.
With that in mind, a lot of fans expected to get some kind of update on a new Kirby game at today's big Nintendo Direct. That's exactly what ended up happening, as the final reveal of the whole Nintendo Direct was for a brand-new Kirby game that's taking the pink puffball in an open-world direction.
