Overwatch Officially Announces Sombra And Roadhog Reworks At BlizzCon 2026

Overwatch is giving two of its heroes a major shake-up, with Blizzard officially announcing reworks for Sombra and Roadhog during BlizzCon 2026's opening ceremony. Both heroes are getting new roles and identities as part of the game's next big update, with the reworks arriving in Season 5 on October 6.

The biggest change is Sombra, who is leaving her DPS days behind to become a Support hero. Blizzard is transforming her from a damage-focused recon specialist into a Support technician. This gives her a completely different role within an Overwatch team.

Sombra's rework will see her abilities and gameplay adjusted around supporting her teammates rather than just hunting down enemy targets. It's a pretty significant departure for a hero who has spent years making everyone's life slightly more annoying from the other side of the map.

Sombra's last major rework was in October 2024, with the launch of Season 13, roughly a year after her previous overhaul in October 2023. So, she's now getting another major rework about two years after her last one, continuing a pretty unusually frequent cycle of redesigns.
