RuneFest was supposed to be a victory lap. Over 6,000 fans packed the NEC in Birmingham for the biggest edition of the event yet, and Jagex arrived with many updates for the existing games, a fresh-start version of RuneScape 3 and an animated adaptation in its pocket. On paper, that's a dream line-up for a franchise celebrating 25 years.
In practice, the order of the announcements did a lot of damage. RuneScape Reignited was revealed, and the response was rough. Roughly half an hour later, Jagex confirmed a fourth RuneScape MMO, and quite a few players started connecting dots the studio would probably rather they didn't.
Reignited Fixes Almost Everything, as Long as You Start From Zero
Reignited launches on December 2, and Jagex calls it a return to the beginning. It comes with a fresh economy, brand-new hiscores and a remastered journey that starts with your first steps in Lumbridge, with Parts II and III following later in 2027. Non-members get full access until December 12.
