A new clip of Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty running through RPCS3 on a jailbroken PS5 Pro shows how far community emulation efforts have come. The game holds a locked 60 frames per second at 4K, which is a clear improvement over the PS3’s native 720p presentation and its occasional dips below 60 frames.

RPCS3 itself is an experimental, open‑source PlayStation 3 emulator written in C++. Development began in 2011 with a small team of programmers, and the project first booted simple homebrew before its public release in 2012. The goal has been accurate PS3 emulation, but as the project continues to evolve through steady updates and community contributions, there have been revelatory additions such as online multiplayer, physical game playability, and even achievement support.

Running RPCS3 via Linux allows the PS5 Pro full use of its GPU capabilities. The emulator pushes past the limits of the notoriously hard-to-optimise Cell processor and RSX GPU, letting PS3 titles run at higher resolutions and more stable framerates.
