PlatinumGames, once a darling of the action game genre, has recently undergone major shake-ups after the departure of studio-defining names. With faces like Hideki Kamiya jumping ship to start their own studios, fans have been hesitant at best about the future of the studio's flagship IPs, but the silence has finally been broken.

In an interview with Famitsu, Atsushi Inaba, current head of PlatinumGames, went on record saying that the Bayonetta series is of particular focus in the next few years. While the critically acclaimed action franchise has largely been on hiatus, Inaba promised that "We have a strong desire to further develop the character of Bayonetta and expand her world."

Studio Stagnation

PlatinumGames is a studio that, especially in the early 2010s, was lauded as one of the greats of the action game genre. Praised alongside giants like Capcom and Team Ninja, their flagship title, Bayonetta, captured their studio style in its totality: highly replayable action romps oozing with style.
