Even 11 years after release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is proving that genuinely great games never die, as CD Projekt Red’s sprawling medieval RPG has just hit a new peak player count on Steam.
According to Steam.db figures, The Witcher 3 has blown past its original 2015 launch peak of around 92,000 players in the past few days, reaching a staggering 137,000 players on October 4, roughly one week after the remastered edition released on September 29. The figures have remained steady and are actually increasing day-to-day as more players opt to revisit the game and enjoy its upgraded graphics and quality of life updates.
The new peak also blows past previous new records set by the premiere of the Netflix adaptation of The Witcher, released in 2020, as well as the next-gen upgrade in December 2022 that saw some gameplay improvements brought to Steam, though mostly improved performance on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
