Grand Theft Auto 6 is just 45 days away from release, but it's been a long journey to get here. As such, the writing team faced a unique challenge: how do you satirise American culture when you don't know what the country will look like when your game launches?
Rockstar's senior vice president of narrative, Rupert Humphries, has touched on exactly that in a new interview. As spotted by VGC, Humphries explained how the team has approached real-world politics in GTA 6 in an interview with Love Magazine. The answer? Don't expect to see any real-life politicians or political events in GTA 6.
"Because we are trying to make games that feel very specific to the moment they are released, but at the same time, not reflective of the exact world we live in, we don’t want to be too specific about any particular person, event, movement, or anything like that," Humphries tells Love Magazine.
This is even more true for GTA 6, which comes 13 years after GTA 5. This means that anything they were cooking up early in development could have easily been outdated by the time of launch.
