When a new Nintendo console launches, you can expect all of its early games to push its new features and quirks. Whether it was the Wii's motion controls, the Wii U's big screen controller, or the 3DS's titular 3D effect, it's almost like there's a mandate that early titles have to use everything a console has to offer, meaning that we get some games where unique controls are pushed for no good reason.
That appears to be the case with the Switch 2's mouse controls. So far, the verdict is that using your Joy-Con as a mouse is pretty alright, but nothing to write home about. It works fairly well in some games where playing with a mouse feels more natural, but for the most part, I reckon it'll be one of those features that isn't really used again later into the console generation.
