League of Legends Changes Could 'Kill' Content Creators

Competitive games have thrived when their communities take the time to really learn everything they can. Coaching, professional match analysis, mid-match casting — there are tons of ways that players can look at the best and brightest and pick apart what makes them so effective.

League of Legends is one such game that has made the strive for competitive improvement a major part of its lifeblood. Countless accounts archive pro-ranked matches, play-by-play analysis, and all steps to absorb knowledge that Riot is now curbing after a recent security patch bars players from downloading recordings of matches they didn't participate in.

League Content Creators Concerned

In the most recent patch notes coming up for League of Legends, one tab stands out in particular, calling out Private Replays. This backbone system of League of Legends, one that allows players to download match recordings of other players, is being heavily diminished.

From here on, players will only be able to download matches they played in themselves, severely limiting who will be able to gain access to these recordings.
