XBOX Claims Battle.net Can Match Steam as it Plans Expansion

XBOX has been carrying out a reset period, which saw thousands of layoffs, divestitures, and major structural changes. With the restructuring around three-quarters of the way complete, there are still tough times ahead for the company.

Despite this, XBOX CEO, Asha Sharma, says XBOX has returned to first-party growth. The team in green is eager to continue that growth on PC, with Battle.net being pointed at as one of the ways to reach PC players.

Battle.net has been somewhat neglected by XBOX, but it appears that is about to change. Despite little effort, player retention on Battle.net is believed by XBOX to be almost as good as Steam’s. If so, Steam could have its first major PC storefront competitor if the correct support is put in place for Battle.net to thrive.

XBOX Plans to Provide More Attention to Battle.net
