Fans Bring Back Multiversus via an Open Source Emulator, Complete with New Content

The live service formula has given us some absolutely stellar games that get to stick around for quite a while. Arguably originating with MMOs, a game that manages to make the money to keep going can constantly improve itself, adding new content to keep fans and newcomers alike entertained. Sadly, the need to constantly reach a quota means certain games can get killed before their time.

This corporate-minded approach has silenced plenty of games that had their communities, and some refuse to let their games go quietly. The team behind OverVersus is one such community, breathing new life into the game after Warner Bros. fumbled the MultiVersus beta's initial hype, leaving the game out to dry when it quietly released almost a year later. With their Discord open and OpenVersus's first season on the horizon, things are looking up for this officially abandoned platform fighter.
