There's a reason Galactic Racer is the highest-rated Star Wars game in two decades, but it's bizarre that it doesn't have split-screen co-op out of the starting grid. Especially when it already has online multiplayer. Thankfully, as per usual, modders are on the case.
zhelan just released a new mod that adds couch co-op support for up to four players. You can select an individual class and vehicle before choosing the planet and mode where you'll compete for the top spot. The mod also ensures that danger effects and messages are individual to each player, and that if you wreck your vehicle, you won't be stuck watching a black screen. Instead, as you'd expect from a racer, you can spectate others.
Installing 'couch split screen for Galactic Racer' is simple.
You'll know the mod has been installed successfully if the split-screen option appears on the main menu.
Unfortunately, this is only available for PC as, if you're playing on console, there's no mod support. That means split-screen co-op being added is entirely dependent on Fuse Games. To offer a sliver of hope, however, the team is currently looking to the community "and what matters most...
