Resident Evil 2 has been seeing a resurgence in players after the smashing success of the newest film, which makes sense given their similarly shared settings during the outbreak of Raccoon City. While Resident Evil 2's status as the best starting point and one of the highest-rated games in the franchise certainly helps, there is yet another incentive for players to flock to the game thanks to its newest multiplayer capabilities.
While not officially associated with Capcom in any way, the fan-made co-op mod created by Shopcreeper01 on NexusMods has already been a bit of a hit with players, letting you fight alongside the undead horrors alongside a friend in split-screen co-op.
While the mod does come with the caveat that it can't be played online and only works with local split-screen, the footage showcased by RENews on X already has fans losing their minds over the gameplay potential being shown.
As detailed in the gameplay overview, the mod has numerous functions to help streamline the multiplayer experience, including a quick access wheel for easier communication or gameplay options, separate inventories, difficulties, and a revive system to support your teammate.
